The WMO Shareefa Fathima Qur'an Center was established in 2007 at Kunhome, Wayanad district, in memory of Shareefa Fathima, the beloved wife of Panakkad Sayyid Muhammed Ali Shihab Thangal and the daughter of the late Bafaqi Thangal. The center operates under the Wayanad Muslim Orphanage (WMO).
WMO's decades of experience in the field of education, combined with the recognition that Qur'an study centers are a necessity of the times, paved the way for the establishment of this institution. The wholehearted support of the residents of Kunhome, along with significant contributions from expatriates, played a crucial role in the establishment and development of the center.
The academic oversight of the institution will be carried out by WMO Imam Ghazali.
To foster a community of individuals who have a deep understanding and mastery of the Holy Qur'an, capable of interpreting and applying its teachings effectively.
To nurture a generation of young leaders who are inspired by the values and principles of the Qur'an, equipped to make positive contributions to society.
To serve as a bridge between Islamic scholars and communities worldwide, promoting dialogue, understanding, and cooperation.
To provide comprehensive education and training programs in Qur'anic studies, including recitation, tafsir (interpretation), and hadith (traditions of the Prophet).
To conduct research on various aspects of Qur'anic studies, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in this field.
To actively engage with the community through outreach programs, workshops, and lectures, promoting the understanding and appreciation of the Qur'an.
